Book 3: Post 1

I am happy to announce the arrival of my third book, Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain. I have been meaning to read this for the past couple of years, since it has just been sitting in parent’s library for such a long time, but I haven’t had the time or interest to read it. However, in 8th grade, I picked up Huckleberry Finn, also written by Mark Twain, which was a great book. For this workshop, I thought Tom Sawyer would be a good classic choice with some good heritage as well. I knew very little about the author before picking up Huckleberry Finn a couple years ago, but after reading that, I can say some things. Mostly, I like Twain’s style of writing. I like the way he uses historical events to tell a story. I also liked how he included verbal slang into the writing of the book I read before, and I am expecting something similar in Tom Sawyer. I am really excited to read this book, and hopefully, I will like as much as I did Huckleberry Finn. Stay tuned for more updates on this book!

  1. Himaveth,

I read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and I thoroughly enjoyed both. I read them in the opposite order as you did however, and I remember that Huckleberry Finn references some of the things that happened in Tom Sawyer, so it should be interesting to read a story and already know a little bit about what happened in that book and a little bit about what will happen afterwards. Twain is a pleasure to read, and I have no doubt you'll love this book!
